Our mission is to create vibrant communities where people of all abilities come together through recreational initiatives and family support.
Individuals with special needs typically comprise 13-16% of the populations. This representation has easily increased with the impact of the COVID pandemic. While this population will be serviced by the physical accessibility that an inclusive playground will provide, 100% of our population will benefit because all community members will be able to interact.
An inclusive playground is more than an accessible play space for individuals with disabilities; it is a setting which allows for learning opportunities, socialization, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles for all community members. Currently, there are very few playgrounds in our area with flat, rubberized ground surfaces and equipment.
Bringing people of all abilities together promotes a richer community. Everyone enriches our community with their unique gifts and talents, and a playground for all will provide a space for these positive, inclusive interactions to occur.
